Exhibiting Artists:

James Litaker

For three decades James Litaker has found inspiration in scenes from daily life. Friends, family, neighbors, bars, musicians, street and church scenes are both the subject and object of his vision. He was born and raised in Harlem and has made thousands of drawings of New York neighborhoods and people on the subway. As a teenager he worked at the Chelsea Hotel where he met legendary figures such as Thelonius Monk and Gregory Corso, who became the subjects of some of his work
